Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, and using BibleLock ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the App indicates your acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

BibleLock is an iOS application designed to help users memorize Bible scripture by creating interactive puzzles and challenges. The App uses Apple's Screen Time framework to allow users to lock other apps behind scripture memorization requirements. The App is provided free of charge and is available through the Apple App Store.

3. License Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use BibleLock on your personal iOS device for personal, non-commercial purposes only. This license is not a sale and does not transfer any title, ownership, or intellectual property rights to you. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App.

You may not use the App for any commercial purpose or for any public display (commercial or non-commercial) without our prior written consent.

4. Acceptable Use

When using BibleLock, you agree that you will not:

• Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, or secrets of the App
• Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with the Screen Time lock mechanism for unauthorized purposes
• Use the App to circumvent parental controls or other security features
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, its infrastructure, or other users' data
• Use the App in any way that could harm, disable, damage, or impair the service or infrastructure
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
• Violate any third-party intellectual property, privacy, or data protection rights

Misuse of the App, including attempts to bypass the Screen Time mechanism, may result in termination of your access to the App.

5. Scripture Content

BibleLock includes scripture text from the English Standard Version (ESV) Bible. The ESV is published by Crossway and is used in accordance with the ESV Bible Text License. All rights to the ESV text are reserved by Crossway. You may use the scripture content within BibleLock for your personal spiritual development and memorization practice. You may not reproduce, distribute, or republish the ESV content outside of the App without permission from Crossway.

6. Privacy

Your use of BibleLock is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices regarding the collection and use of your information. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content in the App

We do not warrant that the App will meet your requirements or expectations, or that any defects in the App will be corrected.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data, revenue, or profits
• Loss of use or functionality
• Any other losses arising from your use of or inability to use the App

This limitation applies regardless of the cause of action or the theory of liability (contract, tort, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any), or if you did not pay anything, then fifty dollars ($50.00).

9. App Store Terms

BibleLock is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your use of the App is also subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and the App Store terms applicable to your jurisdiction. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Apple App Store terms, the most restrictive terms shall apply. You acknowledge that Apple is a third-party beneficiary of this agreement and may enforce these Terms against you.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the App, changes in law, or other operational reasons. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Effective" date of these Terms. Your continued use of the App after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you should stop using the App.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts.
